It's Been Far Too Long

I'll just go about my usual form: Personal, business and anything else at the end.

College is a blast. I've been learning so many new things and all of my professors are awesome. My courses are Intro. to Computer Programming, Computer Essentials, Networking "Basics," Achieving Success in Changing Environments, Intro. to Database Systems, and Math Fundamentals. These are the courses for my first semester in Computer Programmer and they're quite nice. One thing I don't like though is that everyone is started at the same level. In other words, professors are teaching upon the assumption that no one has any background in programming. Is isn't too bad but it's been taking quite awhile for things to actually pick-up. It's at a bit of a smooth level now but it'd be nice to have a little bit of a challenge, except Networking Basics, that's proving to be an in-depth challenge to myself.

Aside from college I've fiddling around with other things here and there. I enjoy watching YouTube and I've been considering making videos again, although I'm reluctant because there's quick a lot of effort required to do a good job and you don't always get much out of making one except a few good laughs with friends. I'm also trying to sell my old computer (link below if you're interested) to see if anyone actually wants to buy it, and if they happen to want to I've already laid out my next build if it's sold. I'm also interested in making my own video game but what I have in mind is quite a big picture that it seems overwhelming. I've got the basis of it laid out but if I want to progress with it I'm just going to have to be persistent.

On a bit of a business note, I've scaled back Exiguous Productions by a small amount (for the hosting side). It's nothing much, I've simply gone back to one dedicated server instead of two. I made the mistake of trying to have the most biggest and best service possible instead of sticking to what works. At first I had one dedicated server but with a 1Gbps port speed, plenty of BW and what not then I added a second dedicated server on to it a month later. From there I lowered down some of the specs on now I think I've finally found the right balance. I plan on keeping things small until I actually NEED to expand. Also, for those of you who don't know I've revamped my hosting's website so it looks a lot more nicer (link below). It took awhile to get everything the way I wanted it to be but in the end I think it was worth it.

Finding good games can be tough to do, I'd rather just make them but that takes time. I feel that the market for good games has really fallen. Sure there's still many awesome games being made as of now but not many good ones have been surfacing. They've either been sub-par or are planned to come out years from now. I suppose I'll just have to stick with what I have now and make the best of it, but I hope something catches my eye in the future.

Farewell CloudSixteen

Disclaimer: This post is purely opinion and based on my own experiences and recollection of events. TL;DR: I'm leaving Cloud Sixteen (hopefully forever).

Chapter 1: An Early Beginning
From my first days of being at CloudSixteen I saw everything I needed to see. I saw a small but growing and bountiful community with a large amount of potential. When I first joined I was young and wary of people and only came on to ask for help. The people were nice and everything looked to be going well. As time went I slowly became more and more active in the community but I wasn't aware of all of the community's dynamics and right as I started to settle was when Alex Grist got left as well as a number of other people. I was oblivious to all of this at the time and so I just carried out my business and worked on my poorly made stuff for my very small community and continued on from there.

Chapter 2: Power To The First
As most (if not all) of you may know is that I'm well known amongst the Clockwork community at large, there's obviously a story to this popularity. The essence is that I was able to be the first one in line for a lot of things such as a large plugin collection, anticipated schema with a dev key, highly demanded features, etc. I feel as though I've cheated to get my fame as I look back at my work and see some simple edits or very poorly made work or even work that isn't even mine (properly credited of course). Why might I be telling you this? Well, I'll be gone from CloudSixteen so you may as know whatever I have to share. It's easy to get to the top if you're the only person selling to a large market.

Chapter 3: Drama
CloudSixteen is a cesspool for drama and a gravity well for poor achievements. Day after day from being involved with moderation from the start I've always seen so much potential but so little accomplishment. I've always tried to remain neutral in problematic situations but I've decided to be true to myself instead on things that were really going on. One thing was that having Alex Grist leave CloudSixteen was probably the worst thing that could ever happen as progress with everything came to a near standstill. The only time anything got done was when everyone was at kurozael's neck to get something done and even then, not much was done. There was always feuds between the two and a very bitter taste when one of them brought up the other. As things slowly began to heal I heard that Conna (aka kurozael) asked Alex Grist if he could remove his name or something from his blog but he refused and Conna didn't take it too lightly. From there kurozael went on to register a domain name and started hiding links in his forums that linked to the site and also posted the URL to other websites such as Facepunch. I was assuming that kuro was planning on using that website to slander Alex Grist's name in some way but I can't be sure because I was able to resolve that dispute between them.

If past grudges weren't enough, there was always politics running rampant in CloudSixteen. The administration is horrible, the official support is nearly non-existant and any attempt at civility was thrown out months ago. There was only one time where Cloud Sixteen had no drama with awesome posts, steady development and a kind aurora on the community. That golden age was quickly ended as SomeSortOfDuck (aka Duck) discovered that Conna had added a global banning feature to his DRM for Clockwork. There was disappointment in kuro as it was misused for getting back at people kurozael didn't like. Of course, nothing changed after it all blew over.

Chapter 4: Cycle Of Fools
Nothing changes in CloudSixteen as ignorance breeds ignorance. I've watched everything happen with CloudSixteen and it's something I can't bear to be apart of any more. Maybe it's me, maybe it's everyone else but I can't remain in one place being frozen in time. The fact of everything is that CloudSixteen goes nowhere and isn't changing at all, it's only putting on a new mask every now and then. I don't see anything good to come from CloudSixteen as no progress has been made with things that were meant to come out a very long time ago and there's no excuse for a business to deceive their customers with the glare of pitiful progress.

Chapter 5: Broken Circles
There's never enough on one given thing, but enough can be said. I don't wish to be apart of the past any more and so I won't waste any time on moving forward. For those of you that wish, you can add me on Steam if you'd like or leave me behind and move on yourself. I'll be writing my thoughts on people that have made a large enough impression on me to be mentioned below (in no particular order):

Vonel/Jake/Whatever: You have much to learn and you've learned so much. There's always room for improvement so keep improving. Become open minded and be considerate of others or there'll be no consideration for you.

Dex: You're probably one of the most fair minded people at C16 and I hope you'll remain that way. Although if there's ever a next time, use a readable username.

TheHipster: Stop shitposting.

kurozael/Conna: Learn to deliver on what you say or don't bother at all. You have to work on balance with your life and maybe try to get some weight off of your shoulder before trying to do so.

Atebite/Stitches: Keep learning and do what you're best at. You've come a long way from when I first met you and I'll be honest, I didn't think you would have ever came this far. I hope you keep doing what you're doing now and more.

invadingalienz: fgt lol

Kezter: You've sort of always had an unserious tone with everything you say/do. You should probably see a doctor about that.

Kurochi: One of the few people who left C16 before everything bad started happening. I wish you the best of luck with your endeavours whatever they may be.

Monkah: At first I thought you were a real asshole when you challenged everything I said. As things progressed I began to see that you were just persistent with doing what was right (however crude the methods were). Keep up your persistence as there's not enough people in this world that fight for what's right.

Duck/SomeSortOfDuck: It's been very enjoyable to be able to chat and work with you at C16 and I'm sure our paths will cross a lot in the future (if we don't die or something). I also hope that one day you'll broaden your potential by exploring the large amounts of possibilities in the world. I've always found the work you've done to be of grade A quality and your support to be both informative and useful to those needing the help and basically everyone else.

Soret: fgt 2 lel

Audio: When we first met I thought you were a huge asshole but then I began to saw that you were able to make light of almost any situation. Although I hope you can moderate yourself a bit more in the future as some may begin to perceive you in just one way.

alexanderk: I wish you the best of luck with whatever you plan on doing. The sad truth is that I know you and yet I can't remember much about you. Hopefully new memories can be filled.

Sloth: I always thought of you to be a trouble maker back when I cared about moderating the community, now it's always great to see what you have to say about people. Just be careful of what you say.

Tommy: #Tommy4ServerManager. In all seriousness though, it's been fun chatting with you from time to time, I hope you cut down on spam though.

I'll be releasing a GitHub for all of my work and some old goodies (eventually).

Back From The Cottage

And so I continue. I'm back from my cottage now and while I was there I both relaxed and worked. I basically did what I wrote about in my last post but I was also helping my father repair the roof (as it's been deteriorating pretty badly). I'll be honest, when I went back up things went by fast and it's pretty hard to believe that there's about a week until I enter college now. For those you that don't know, I'll be taking a course named Computer Programmer where we do programming on computers and stuff. I have many things to look forward to and many things to look back on.

Aside from the good, I'll always be faced with the bad. I've been trying to sort out some problems with my computer and it's been going on ever since I installed my CPU's liquid cooler. I've been getting plenty blue screens of death and most of them pointed to my RAM but I don't believe that's the problem. After investigating some more I believe it has to do with some faulty drivers or something similar. I've been working on getting the correct ones or fixing corrupted ones so hopefully this will be fixed soon.

A bit on the business side, turns out I've just reached the amount of money needed to cover my server hosting costs. It's always a problem when I get customers before my invoices are due because it becomes more and more risky as you get closer to their due dates as you can lose customers in an instant. Hopefully after I pay these invoices I'll get an influx right after, but I'll remain doubtful. Some future things I want to do with my server hosting is centralize the game panel and do some more customization with it so things work a lot better. Other than that, things remain pretty steady.

I'll be addressing some "internet drama" concerning the online community named Cloud Sixteen before September 1st. It'll involve my views, opinions and other things, keep tabs on this blog before then to read about it.

As Summer slowly comes to an end, I hope to start up some of my projects (mainly cManager) and maybe start a kickstarter for it. I've never done one before but I plan on putting a goal of $5,000 for it. I've been looking around and it seems like a reasonable goal for my project and what I have in mind for it. I plan on making an "all-in-one" billing system including things such as a game panel, web panel, customer manager, store front, etc. It's most comparable to WHMCS but as I said, it'll be an all-in-one. It won't rely on 3rd party panels such as TCAdmin, cPanel, etc. It'll be a long project but I think I can do it, and if it takes off enough I'll be able to get some people to help me with it. I'll probably discuss my ideas about it in more detail later on.

To close on my post, I just wanted to inform everyone (if there is even anyone) that my future blog posts will probably be a bit shorter than what they're like now as they'll be a daily activity. Although, they could be longer as a lot can happen in a day.

Daily Blogs

Well it's been awhile since I've ever used this, I practically forgot all about it. I don't believe many people come across this but I suppose I'll just be writing about my days from now on to give me something to look forward to. Before I start writing on a daily basis, I'd like to first sum up how my life has been going the past while.

To begin, I finished high school a couple months ago and I'm moving into college now, time moves fast and life follows. I've been keeping myself busy for the most part but things have been getting increasingly crazy with internet drama (which I'll be touching on later).

Aside from the usual, I've gotten my business registered (Exiguous Productions) and I've gotten a pretty clear plan for what I want to accomplish with it. Right now I'm doing some server hosting at affordable prices with a high quality service/product. Like all low priced things, people may cut corners to remain sustainable, I always try to avoid such a thing but even as a business, I must be profitable. The first month of offering my services went perfectly and problems didn't really rise until the next month. I had just expanded and as the month went on I begun to see that my customer drop off rate was higher than I was expecting. As a result I had to lower my expenses to cover the lowered revenue, but not to worry! I've only been dropping off configurations that aren't a huge killer (100Mbps connection instead of 1000Mbps, 5TB bandwidth instead of 10TB, etc.). I expect I'll have to put forth some of my own money to keep things going but thankfully it isn't too much, probably around $50 (it was around $100). This may not be a large sum to many but can mean the world to others, especially an 18 year old entering college.

Leaving my business interests for now, as the summer begins to end I've been trying to spend some time at my family's cottage with my family. The original plan was to go with my friends but they're busy with other activities. It's been pretty fun up there but sadly my first visit got cut short to about 2-3 days as we had to get some supplies and celebrate my father's birthday. I was hoping to go up the very same day but other delays came up resulting in not going up until 1-2 days later (still waiting to head back up as I write). Looking on the more positive side of things, it's been very relaxing and comfortable at the cottage. I'd highly recommend everyone do it sometime as it really helps to clear the head, even just being a small distance from home can help. I'll be honest though, the days are very lazy up there: Watching Star Trek/Boardwalk Empire, swimming, sleeping until lunch, reading, staying up late into the night, playing video games, etc. I'm living the life? Ha! Not so. The problem with being unreachable is that you're always reachable, or you at least try to be reachable. Like being any sole proprietor of any business, you have customers to attend to. It can be hard to keep your mind away from work but I try my best to stay sane.

If you're interested in the business I mentioned, you can check it out here:

That's all for today and maybe for the next few days. I know I said I'd try to do these daily, but anything could change, after all, what's life without change?
