Back From The Cottage

And so I continue. I'm back from my cottage now and while I was there I both relaxed and worked. I basically did what I wrote about in my last post but I was also helping my father repair the roof (as it's been deteriorating pretty badly). I'll be honest, when I went back up things went by fast and it's pretty hard to believe that there's about a week until I enter college now. For those you that don't know, I'll be taking a course named Computer Programmer where we do programming on computers and stuff. I have many things to look forward to and many things to look back on.

Aside from the good, I'll always be faced with the bad. I've been trying to sort out some problems with my computer and it's been going on ever since I installed my CPU's liquid cooler. I've been getting plenty blue screens of death and most of them pointed to my RAM but I don't believe that's the problem. After investigating some more I believe it has to do with some faulty drivers or something similar. I've been working on getting the correct ones or fixing corrupted ones so hopefully this will be fixed soon.

A bit on the business side, turns out I've just reached the amount of money needed to cover my server hosting costs. It's always a problem when I get customers before my invoices are due because it becomes more and more risky as you get closer to their due dates as you can lose customers in an instant. Hopefully after I pay these invoices I'll get an influx right after, but I'll remain doubtful. Some future things I want to do with my server hosting is centralize the game panel and do some more customization with it so things work a lot better. Other than that, things remain pretty steady.

I'll be addressing some "internet drama" concerning the online community named Cloud Sixteen before September 1st. It'll involve my views, opinions and other things, keep tabs on this blog before then to read about it.

As Summer slowly comes to an end, I hope to start up some of my projects (mainly cManager) and maybe start a kickstarter for it. I've never done one before but I plan on putting a goal of $5,000 for it. I've been looking around and it seems like a reasonable goal for my project and what I have in mind for it. I plan on making an "all-in-one" billing system including things such as a game panel, web panel, customer manager, store front, etc. It's most comparable to WHMCS but as I said, it'll be an all-in-one. It won't rely on 3rd party panels such as TCAdmin, cPanel, etc. It'll be a long project but I think I can do it, and if it takes off enough I'll be able to get some people to help me with it. I'll probably discuss my ideas about it in more detail later on.

To close on my post, I just wanted to inform everyone (if there is even anyone) that my future blog posts will probably be a bit shorter than what they're like now as they'll be a daily activity. Although, they could be longer as a lot can happen in a day.

Daily Blogs

Well it's been awhile since I've ever used this, I practically forgot all about it. I don't believe many people come across this but I suppose I'll just be writing about my days from now on to give me something to look forward to. Before I start writing on a daily basis, I'd like to first sum up how my life has been going the past while.

To begin, I finished high school a couple months ago and I'm moving into college now, time moves fast and life follows. I've been keeping myself busy for the most part but things have been getting increasingly crazy with internet drama (which I'll be touching on later).

Aside from the usual, I've gotten my business registered (Exiguous Productions) and I've gotten a pretty clear plan for what I want to accomplish with it. Right now I'm doing some server hosting at affordable prices with a high quality service/product. Like all low priced things, people may cut corners to remain sustainable, I always try to avoid such a thing but even as a business, I must be profitable. The first month of offering my services went perfectly and problems didn't really rise until the next month. I had just expanded and as the month went on I begun to see that my customer drop off rate was higher than I was expecting. As a result I had to lower my expenses to cover the lowered revenue, but not to worry! I've only been dropping off configurations that aren't a huge killer (100Mbps connection instead of 1000Mbps, 5TB bandwidth instead of 10TB, etc.). I expect I'll have to put forth some of my own money to keep things going but thankfully it isn't too much, probably around $50 (it was around $100). This may not be a large sum to many but can mean the world to others, especially an 18 year old entering college.

Leaving my business interests for now, as the summer begins to end I've been trying to spend some time at my family's cottage with my family. The original plan was to go with my friends but they're busy with other activities. It's been pretty fun up there but sadly my first visit got cut short to about 2-3 days as we had to get some supplies and celebrate my father's birthday. I was hoping to go up the very same day but other delays came up resulting in not going up until 1-2 days later (still waiting to head back up as I write). Looking on the more positive side of things, it's been very relaxing and comfortable at the cottage. I'd highly recommend everyone do it sometime as it really helps to clear the head, even just being a small distance from home can help. I'll be honest though, the days are very lazy up there: Watching Star Trek/Boardwalk Empire, swimming, sleeping until lunch, reading, staying up late into the night, playing video games, etc. I'm living the life? Ha! Not so. The problem with being unreachable is that you're always reachable, or you at least try to be reachable. Like being any sole proprietor of any business, you have customers to attend to. It can be hard to keep your mind away from work but I try my best to stay sane.

That's all for today and maybe for the next few days. I know I said I'd try to do these daily, but anything could change, after all, what's life without change?
